First Reconciliation (Confession) and First Communion (Holy Eucharist) preparation typically begins at the age of reason, which is seven years old. We encourage parents to enroll their children in Sunday Religious Education classes to begin preparing for these Sacraments in Kindergarten.
The 2nd Grade Parent Handbook has all the pertinent information regarding these two Sacraments. If you have additional questions, feel free to contact the Religious Education office by either email or phone 952-955-1777.
Classes meet on Sundays from 9:15a-10:15a with two Sunday afternoon retreats. Please see calendar for details.
Every child receiving the Sacrament of First Holy Communion needs to have a Parish Record Form filled out and turned into the Religious Education Office. If your child was not Baptized at ICC, a copy of the Baptismal Certificate will be requested as well.
"I am the living bread that came down from heaven; if any one eats of this bread, he will live forever;...he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life and...abides in me, and I in him." (Jn 6:51, 54, 56)
"On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, He breathed on them, and said to them: 'Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retrain the sins of any, they are retained.'"
(Jn 20: 19, 22-23)
